Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy

Welcome to SFYCA!

SFYCA is a peak artistic experience for high school choral musicians under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong at the world-renowned Oregon Bach Festival. Spend two weeks performing exceptional choral literature and strengthening your passion for the choral arts through daily rehearsals, classes, workshops, and performances alongside leading musicians. The Bach Cantata will be Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir, BWV 29 and will include members of the OBF Orchestra and vocal soloists from the OBF Chorus. A main highlight this season is a guest residency featuring Grammy Award-winning conductor and composer, Eric Whitacre.

Who: High School Age (finishing 9th-finishing 12th grades)
Cost: $995 (scholarships available for many)

SFYCA Final Concert: July 9, 2024 in historic Beall Concert Hall

While in residence with the SFYCA, you will:

  • Immerse yourself in an extensive choral training program led by internationally respected, expert faculty.
  • Perform exceptional choral literature as part of the OBF season’s regular concert schedule.
  • Engage in community outreach events.
  • Prepare for your musical life after high school and gain perspective on the collegiate experience while you’re in residence on the University of Oregon Campus.
  • Distinguish yourself as an exceptional professional candidate on upcoming resumes and college applications.

This 10-day program is open by audition nationally and internationally.
