Help Wanted: Festival Executive Director

July 14, 2006

The University of Oregon today announced a job vacancy notice for the Executive Director position of the Oregon Bach Festival.

Current director Royce Saltzman recently announced his intention to focus on completing the Festival's $10 million endowment following the 2007 Festival, next June 29-July 16.

Further information about the Festival and the search

The Festival was founded in 1970 and is a Grammy award-winning annual event that has been heralded by major media publications as a “musical enterprise virtually without equal in America (Los Angeles Times). Under the direction of its founders, Executive Director Royce Saltzman and internationally recognized Conductor Helmuth Rilling, the Festival currently offers about 50 events over a 17 day period and attracts an annual audience in excess of 30,000. The Festival has an annual budget, including University support, exceeding $2 million, and is more than half way toward a $10 million endowment goal. Annual gifts for operations for the current year's Festival were nearly $1 million.

While OBF specializes in choral orchestral masterworks, the Festival also addresses a variety of musical interests through chamber music, small ensembles, solo performances and innovative interpretive works. It is highly regarded for quality educational programming which includes the Discovery Series, Youth Choral Academy, and Master Class for conductors. The Festival is a program of the University of Oregon, and reports within the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, with close connections to the School of Music and Dance.
