Keillor, Quartet on Upcoming Broadcasts

Garrison Keillor's appearance at the OBF will be broadcast 12/20 on KWAX

Sold-out performances from the 2008 Oregon Bach Festival will live again in broadcasts of Garrison Keillor’s appearance in Eugene’s Hult Center and chamber music featuring the Shanghai String Quartet.

Keillor’s concert will be broadcast locally in the Eugene area on KWAX, 91.1 FM, Saturday, December 20 at 5 pm, Pacific Time. Recorded June 30, it features the author, humorist, and radio host in a concert setting with the OBF Chorus and Orchestra, the Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy, soloist Maria Jette, and conductor Philip Brunelle. The program can also be heard at that time on the station’s website, www.kwax.com.

The nationally syndicated program Performance Today will broadcast two works from the OBF’s 2008 chamber music series on its Wednesday, December 17th program. Ibert’s Trois pieces brèves features Lorna McGhee (flute), Allan Vogel (oboe), Carey Bell (clarinet), Kenneth Munday (bassoon), and Richard Todd (horn). The Shanghai Quartet will be heard performing Grieg’s Quartet No. 1, Op. 27, II, Romanze.

American Public Media's Performance Today is broadcast on 245 public radio stations across the country and is heard by about 1.1 million people each week. Air times vary by station. In Eugene, it will air December 17 on KWAX from 6-8 a.m.
