2004 season • Article/FeatureVoluminous volunteersJune 27, 2004 By Tim Christie Two weeks after moving to Eugene from California, music teacher Phyllis Villec found herself on stage at the Hult Center under a cascade of applause, presenting a bouquet of flowers to conductor Helmuth Rilling, the founding artistic director of the Oregon Bach Festival. The spotlight wasn't on Villec, of course, but the chance to play even a small part in the acclaimed music festival was a thrill nonetheless. "It blew me away," she said.
