OBF at Library First Friday June 6

May 2, 2008

On First Friday, June 6, the Eugene library goes "Bach and Forth" as the Oregon Bach Festival presents keyboard works by J.S. Bach and his sons, performed on portative organ and harpsichord by Barbara Baird and Julia Brown.

George Evano, OBF communications director, will intersperse the musical works with preview information about the 2008 OBF. George will have a free drawing for Festival tickets and CDs as part of the fun.

For the library mini-concert, Baird and Brown, who headline the OBF's July 10 "Organ Interlude" concert, will perform music by J.S. Bach and his sons Carl Phillip Emmanuel, Wilhelm Friedemann, and Johann Christian, all noteworthy composers in their own right.

The portative (portable) organ to be used in the First Friday concert will create a memorable sound in the library's reverberant rotunda. The instrument was built by Eugene instrument maker David Petty.
