Concertmaster
GERNOT SÜSSMUTH has been concertmaster of the Weimar Staatskapelle under Daniel Berenboim since 2002. He is also a professor at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin and at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Weimar. Süssmuth was concertmaster at the Staatskapelle Berlin and a member of the Petersen Quartet, winner of many international awards, including the International Music Competition in Florence (1986) and the ARD Competition in Munich (1987). Süssmuth began playing the violin at the age of seven and made his first public performance at age nine, performing Haydn's Violin Concerto in G. He studied at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory. His first professional job was as concertmaster of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.
