Nathan Berg
Born in Canada, NATHAN BERG began vocal studies in Canada; he also studied in the U.S., France, and London, where he studied with Vera Rozsa and won a Gold Medal for Singers.
With repertoire ranging from Bach and Handel to Mahler and Verdi, he has travelled extensively to perform with such conductors as Davis, Slatkin, Masur, Boulez, Harding, Hogwood, Tilson-Thomas, Abbado, Norrington, Rilling, King and Leppard. Berg has performed with numerous orchestras around the world including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Montreal Symphony, and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. At the Proms in London he performed with the English Consort and Trevor Pinnock and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Belohlavek.
Operatic roles have included Argante in Rinaldo in Munich, the title role in the Marriage of Figaro for New York City Opera and the Netherlands Opera, and in performances of La Bohème in Paris, Tokyo, Toronto and Vancouver.
Recent concert work includes Messiah with the Toronto and New Jersey Symphony Orchestras, Mozart's Mass in C Minor with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Lorin Maazel, Mozart's Requiem with the Orchestre de Lille and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
He is also a prolific recitalist and has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Edinburgh Festival, Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Blackheath Concert Halls, the Aix–en–Provence Festival and at the Lincoln Center in New York. In the past, he sang Bach's St. John's Passion, Haydn's Creation, and Mendelssohn's Elijah, all under the baton of Helmuth Rilling.
