Maria JetteGuest Artist
German mezzo-soprano and contralto INGEBORG DANZ studied music and singing with Heiner Eckels, graduating with distinction. As a student, she was awarded several prizes and scholarships. Her main field, however, is oratorio and concert performance and Lieder. She collaborates closely with Helmuth Rilling and the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart. She does not limit herself to specific musical epochs. Although works of the late romantic period, such as Mahler's symphonies, Berlioz's Nuits d'été, Schumann's Faust-Szenen, and sacred music by Bruckner and Beethoven are part of her regular repertoire, she is also known as one of the finest Bach performers of her generation. She has worked with conductors such as Muti, Blomstedt, Abbado, Honeck, Hogwood, Rilling, Metzmacher and Bychkov. Danz has made extended tours throughout the U.S. and Japan, South America, Russia and Europe. She has appeared with the Lieder accompanist Almut Eckels since 1984. She has performed with leading orchestras of the world including the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Munich Philharmonia, the San Francisco and Chicago Symphonies, and the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington D.C. Important projects of the last years have been a concert tour with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, two extended tours with the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, and with the Collegium Vocale Gent. As a dedicated Lieder singer, she has toured with Juliane Banse, Christoph Prégardien, Olaf Bär, and James Taylor. |
