Sibylla RubensVocal Soloist
Rubens made her debut at the Deutsche Symphonieorchester Berlin with Mendelssohn's Lobgesang under Vladimir Ashkenazy and returned for concerts of Schumann's FaustSzenen conducted by Marek Janowski. She has also appeared with the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam under Philippe Herreweghe (the Fauré Requiem), with Hartmut Haenchen (Brahms' German Requiem and J.S. Bach's Magnificat), and Heinrich Schiff (Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9). She appeared in J. S. Bach's St. Mathew Passion at the Carnegie Hall in New York in January, 2007, under the baton of Helmuth Rilling. For many years Rubens has collaborated with the Stuttgart Bach Academy and Helmuth Rilling, with whom she toured in Italy during the 2007-2008 season, performing the St. John Passion. Various recordings for Hänssler Classic have developed from this collaboration, including Bach's Cantatas, the Christmas Oratorio and the Mass in B Minor. She also regularly tours with Collegium Vocale Gent and with the Windsbacher Knabenchor. As a Lied singer, she performed her first recital with Irwin Gage at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele in 1999, and has continued with recitals in Barcelona, Amsterdam and Nuremberg and at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. The varied soprano repertoire has taken Rubens to concerts and festivals at home and abroad. She has given concerts in Berlin, Frankfurt, Würzburg and Zurich and toured Italy, France, England, Poland and Scandinavia. |
